Choose S340 for a movable view
SoloCam S340, model T8170, combines a 3K wide-angle camera with a 2K telephoto camera. The wide view gives context while the telephoto lens helps you look more closely. Its advertised 8× zoom is hybrid zoom, rather than an 8× optical lens.
The head pans 360° and tilts 70°, allowing you to change the view in the app and use supported tracking features. Pan is movement: it does not mean the camera records every direction at the same instant. Think about which view should be its starting position and what a fence, wall or eave could obscure.
Standalone or paired with a HomeBase?
Standalone
Use a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection and the camera's built-in 8 GB local storage. A HomeBase is optional for this route.
With HomeBase 3
Use the compatible hub's storage and supported BionicMind features. See the HomeBase 3 guide when planning a shared system.
eufy's current tables also list S340 with HomeBase 2, HomeBase Mini and HomeBase Professional S1. The features of those hubs differ. Use the exact-model checker before buying a hub or relying on a particular feature.
Local recording does not require a mandatory storage subscription. Optional cloud or paid features can have separate charges, and thumbnail notifications or cloud features can send images or recordings to cloud services.
Aim the camera for the view and the panel for sunlight
The rechargeable battery runs the camera; a removable solar panel tops it up. The panel can sit on the camera or nearby using its cable, which lets you separate a useful camera angle from a useful sun-facing position. Check the exact offer for the panel, its wattage and the included mounting parts.
Sunlight, shade, weather and camera activity affect the energy balance. A bright-looking mounting spot may be shaded for much of the day. Before fixing the panel, look at how shadows move across that position and leave practical access for cleaning or charging. Solar assistance is not a guarantee that manual charging will never be needed.
Night footage and event recording
S340 supports colour night footage, with results depending on available light and spotlight settings. Test the distance and angle you actually need. A headline resolution or zoom figure alone does not establish usable detail at every distance. Our night-vision guide explains the role of light and placement.
This is a motion-event camera. eufy's S340 FAQ states that it does not support continuous 24/7 recording, including with HomeBase 3. If a complete all-day timeline is essential, compare the outdoor-camera range for a model with an explicit continuous-recording mode. Cameras record events; they do not prevent them.
Before you choose a condition offer
- Decide the connection route. Check 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi at the mounting position for standalone use, or confirm your exact HomeBase pairing.
- Plan the views. Choose a sensible default view, allow the head room to move, and check what is obstructed.
- Plan solar separately. Check sunlight across the day and the cable route if the panel will be away from the camera.
- Read the offer's contents. Check the camera, panel, mount, cable and any hub explicitly listed. Read its cosmetic and packaging description.
Some offers call this model Solo S3 alongside S340. Use the T8170 model identity and the exact offer's description, rather than the name alone, when checking the device and accessories. The condition guide explains our stock descriptions.
