Which hard drive fits?
A 5 V, 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD up to 16 TB, drawing no more than about 6 W. Not included; 12 V drives won't work.
What happens in a power cut?
It runs on mains power with no backup battery, so it stops until the power's back.

Room for a longer story.
The hub starts with 16 GB of non-removable eMMC storage. Add a compatible 5 V, 2.5-inch SATA HDD or SSD to expand up to 16 TB. The drive is bought separately.
eufy does not support 12 V storage drives. Use a compatible drive.
The expansion has an actual entrance.
Fit the recording drive inside the HomeBase using its SATA connection. This is where extra recording capacity goes.
eufy requires a fitted drive for supported continuous recording. That does not turn every paired battery camera into a 24/7 camera. The camera’s own recording limits still apply.
Recognise the regular cast.
BionicMind facial recognition distinguishes familiar people from strangers, with human, vehicle and pet detection on supported devices. The hub can store up to 50 face profiles.
Recognition is not infallible. Treat eufy’s up-to-99.9% accuracy rating as its published rating, not a promise about every face at your door. Real conditions affect recognition.

Local does not mean the internet never gets a speaking part.
Optional Cloud Backup and thumbnail-preview notifications send the required video or thumbnails to the cloud when enabled. A local archive does not make every app feature offline.

Selected eufy cameras, doorbells and sensors work with HomeBase 3. A familiar brand or similar name is not enough to establish every feature.
The product page says up to 16 devices and 34 sensors. A support guide separately lists up to eight wired and 16 battery devices, with four continuous-recording devices. Confirm a mixed setup before purchase.
When the network goes quiet.
HomeBase 3 needs mains power and has no built-in backup battery. The cameras’ batteries do not power the hub.
For eufyCam 3 and 3C, eufy documents operation through internet-only loss while the hub stays powered and cameras stay charged. It warns that a router or hub restart can lose recordings made during that outage. Other cameras need their own guidance.
The hub still needs power and network setup.
First day in the archive.
- Connect the hub to your router by Ethernet and use its proper power adapter.
- Add HomeBase in the eufy app and update it.
- Check and pair your compatible devices.
- Add a suitable internal drive if you need expansion or supported continuous recording.
- Test recording and playback before relying on the system.
Wi-Fi is supported after the appropriate firmware update; Ethernet is the initial setup route. Test recording and playback after setup.
A hub with a very specific job description.
The built-in siren is rated at 100 dB. The hub has a gigabit Ethernet port, two USB ports and one SATA connection. It belongs indoors and uses its 12 V DC, 2 A adapter.
eufy’s product page lists an upper operating temperature of 50°C; its quick-start guide says 45°C. Keep the installation comfortably within the guidance, not in a sunny cupboard auditioning as a sauna.
