The receipts don’t disappear.

Your driveway has receipts. The eufy HomeBase 3 (S380) keeps useful clips from compatible cameras at home: recognised, organised and stored locally. Most stories can vanish tomorrow. Footage of someone testing your car door at 2:13 am probably shouldn’t. No monthly fee is required for local storage.

Needs compatible cameras. HomeBase 3 is the brain, archive and recogniser, not the eyeballs. On its own it records nothing. It is the friend holding everyone’s phones, not the one taking the selfie.

Used. Renewed. Properly disclosed.

We list it as Manufacturer Renewed, and that means exactly what it says. This unit was used. It went back through the manufacturer's own renewal programme, where it was refurbished and tested, and it comes to you in renewed, non-retail packaging, a plain protective box, not the printed eufy carton. We no longer split renewed hubs into cosmetic grades. Some arrive looking effectively new, others carry a light cosmetic mark or two, the kind you need decent light to find. Every unit was tested and works the same.

We’d rather put that in the first story than make you screenshot the fine print. It's genuine eufy stock, it carries our own 12-month warranty, and if it turns up faulty or not as described we cover the return postage.

It knows Mum from “person detected”

The local AI eufy calls BionicMind builds face profiles so the system can stop treating your own family like a season-finale reveal. eufy rates the facial recognition as accurate up to 99.9%. That is their claim, quoted as theirs, not a number we measured.

It also supports human, vehicle and pet detection. Face/object event search depends on supported cameras and current firmware; package detection requires a compatible connected product.

6:11 am

One visitor. Three cameras. Zero midnight editing.

Cross-camera tracking can spot the same person on the driveway camera, side gate and back door, then merge supported clips into one timeline instead of leaving you to make a low-budget true-crime montage before coffee. HomeBase 3 is required. eufy AU currently lists a free 3-month trial followed by a paid monthly or annual plan for this feature. Local storage itself remains subscription-free.

It works on human features rather than faces, so eufy states it still stitches the clips together even when the face isn't visible in the video. Handy, given how many people arrive at a front door looking at their shoes.

16GB of built-in eMMC storage, non-removable, with recognition and storage happening on the hub. Want more history? Add your own drive and it goes to 16TB.

The detail that causes the returns, so here is the screenshot-worthy version: it takes a 5V, 2.5-inch drive with a SATA interface, HDD or SSD. eufy states plainly that 12V drives are not supported. And if you want 24/7 continuous recording, eufy says a drive has to be in the hub. The 16GB won't carry it.

Network

Apple HomeKit
Supportedeufy states the HomeBase 3 does support Apple HomeKit. Per-camera behaviour varies by model and we haven't verified that here.
24/7 continuous recording
Supported, with a drive fittedeufy states a hard drive must be inserted into the HomeBase 3 to store continuous recording. The 16GB built in won't do it.

The long caption

The long caption worth reading before checkout.

No disappearing disclosure. No product limitation hidden behind “more”.

  • It is a hub, not a camera. For video, HomeBase 3 needs at least one compatible camera-equipped eufy product. Sensors and locks do not capture footage by themselves. The eufy Security app, an account and internet access are required for setup.
  • No battery backup. eufy publishes none for HomeBase 3. That's the HomeBase Professional S1 you're thinking of. This is a mains-powered hub: when the power goes out, the hub stops. Up here in North Queensland that isn't a technicality, it's a wet-season fact, and you should factor it in.
  • The expansion drive is specific and not included. Use a 5 V, 2.5-inch SATA HDD or SSD, up to 16 TB; eufy states 12 V drives are not supported. A fitted drive is also required for 24/7 continuous recording. The random drive from Dad’s CABLES drawer still needs its specs checked.
  • Local video storage has a cloud-feature caveat. Recognition and recorded-video storage happen on the hub. But eufy's own page says that if you choose cloud-based features (Cloud Backup, or push notifications with thumbnail previews), videos or thumbnails are sent to the cloud as needed to provide them. Local is the default posture, not a physical impossibility.
  • Cross-camera tracking is not a permanently free feature. eufy AU currently offers a 3-month trial, followed by a paid monthly or annual plan. Supported on-camera BionicMind setups can stitch in real time; hub-only analysis can take roughly 3–6 minutes.

Who gets added

Check the exact T-model and current firmware.

HomeBase compatibility changes as eufy updates firmware and its official matrix. Do not rely on a frozen family-name roster.

Current capacity: up to 16 devices total, with no more than 8 wired devices, plus up to 34 sensors. Up to four supported continuous-recording devices can record 24/7.

Easy-to-confuse example: battery Video Doorbell S330 T8213 is compatible; wired S330 T8203 is not.

Check eufy’s current official HomeBase compatibility guide for every intended camera, doorbell, lock or sensor before ordering. Feature support can differ even when connection support exists. Use the exact T-model, not just the family name.

Dispatch, warranty and returns, saved where adults can find them.

Dispatch & delivery

Sent from Townsville, QLD. We do our best to get orders out the same day, and same-day to 1 business day is our typical dispatch time. During busy periods it can extend, though that's rare. If yours is one of those, we'd rather tell you than leave you refreshing a tracking page.

Australia Post Express included on every order over $99.00. Under $99.00 it's $9.95 flat tracked, with a $12.95 Express upgrade if you want it there sooner.

Warranty

Our own 12-month warranty, honoured by us here in Australia. It is not a manufacturer warranty and we won't dress it up as one. You deal with us, not a third-party support queue.

If it's faulty or not as described inside those 12 months, we cover the return postage. We may run a sensible diagnosis first, but you deal with CamGuard in Australia rather than being sent into a third-party support loop.

Returns

Change of mind: 30 days from delivery, returned in the condition it arrived. The buyer pays the return postage and the original shipping isn't refunded. That's the trade-off for us not building it into the price for everyone.

Faulty or not as described: that one's on us, return postage included. Message us and we'll sort it.

Reply to story

Questions from the replies, answered without a seven-part apology video.

So does this thing actually record on its own?

No. HomeBase 3 is the hub: the brain, the storage and the recogniser. It has no camera in it. For video, you need at least one compatible camera-equipped eufy product; sensors and locks do not capture footage by themselves. The eufy Security app, a eufy account and internet access are required for setup.

If you've arrived here from a camera listing, this is the piece that camera talks to.

"Manufacturer Renewed": what does that actually mean for this unit?

It means this unit was used. It then went back through the manufacturer's own renewal programme, where it was refurbished and tested, and it arrives in renewed, non-retail packaging rather than the printed eufy carton.

We no longer split renewed hubs into cosmetic grades. Expect it to present well, anywhere from effectively new through to a light cosmetic mark or two. It's genuine eufy stock and it carries our own 12-month warranty, not a manufacturer one.

Can I plug in the old external hard drive that's in my desk drawer?

Only if it's the right kind. eufy specifies a 5V, 2.5-inch drive with a SATA interface (HDD or SSD) up to 16TB, and states that 12V drives are not supported. A 3.5-inch surveillance drive is a different product's drive and won't do the job here.

A drive isn't included. You only need one if you want more than the built-in 16GB, or if you want 24/7 continuous recording, which eufy says requires a drive fitted.

Is there a monthly fee, and does my footage go to a cloud?

No monthly fee for local storage. Recognition and storage happen on the hub, in your house. Cloud Backup and selected AI services such as Cross-Camera Tracking can be optional paid extras; the local-storage benefit remains subscription-free.

The caveat, in eufy's words: if you choose cloud-based features such as Cloud Backup, or push notifications with thumbnail previews, then videos or thumbnails are sent to the cloud as needed to provide those features. Without those selected cloud features, recorded video remains stored locally on the hub. The app, account and internet connection are still part of setup and operation.

What happens in a blackout? We get a few up here.

The hub stops. eufy publishes no battery backup for HomeBase 3 (that feature belongs to a different eufy hub), so treat this one as mains only.

It's a real limitation and we'd rather it sat in an answer than in a surprise. If riding out a power cut is a hard requirement for you, this isn't the hub for it.

Does it do Apple HomeKit? I read somewhere that it doesn't.

It does. eufy's own support answer is direct about it: the HomeBase 3 does support Apple HomeKit. If you've seen a listing say otherwise, including an older version of ours, that was wrong, and this is us fixing it rather than quietly deleting it.

What varies is per-camera behaviour inside HomeKit, which is model-specific and we haven't verified that here.

Will my older eufyCams work with it, or do I have to replace the lot?

Many older models are listed as compatible, but compatibility changes with firmware and exact hardware. Use the current official matrix and the T-model printed on each device before ordering.

Do not decide from “wired” or “battery” in a marketing name alone. For example, the battery Video Doorbell S330 T8213 is listed as compatible, while wired S330 T8203 is not. Check every exact T-model in the current official guide linked above.

I've got a HomeBase 2. Does everything come across?

For supported devices, eufy’s One-Tap Migration can transfer the bound devices plus their corresponding video and configuration data.

Both HomeBases must be connected by wire on the same LAN, powered and online throughout. Check eufy’s current migration guide and supported-device list before starting, and keep a separate copy of any irreplaceable clip.

One more tap. Long-term memory.

Manufacturer renewed, tested and honest about having been used. It can keep compatible-camera footage local, organise the useful moments and avoid a monthly fee for local storage.
