eufy's own description: the front-facing camera focuses on people, while the downward-facing camera fills in the gaps with a view of the floor in front of your door.
2K at the door
The front camera captures a 2K visitor view. The separate downward camera frames the doorstep at 1600 × 1200.
Colour after dark
A dual-light night vision system gives colour viewing at the door, with a published viewing distance of up to 16 feet (5 m).
Battery or existing wiring
Run it on the removable 6,500 mAh battery, or connect it to existing doorbell wiring so the battery stays topped up while installed.
The honest details
Before you buy.
The two cameras are not the same resolution. The front camera is 2K. The second, downward camera is lower resolution and framed for the doorstep, not visitor detail.
Check exact dimensions and wiring. eufy’s T8214 pages disagree on dimensions, pixel counts and wiring voltage. Confirm a tight mounting space and electrical supply before installation.
It records events, not all day. Motion, person and package detection trigger clips to the built-in 8 GB. There is no advertised continuous recording mode on the doorbell itself.
Good means light marks. Small cosmetic marks you may notice up close. They do not affect how it works.
It alerts. It does not prevent. A camera records, detects and notifies. It is one part of home security, not the whole of it.

What you need
Battery stays in, even with wiring
The removable battery must remain installed during use, including when suitable doorbell wiring supplies power. It connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi without requiring a HomeBase. Have the exact transformer and chime checked: eufy publishes different wiring ranges, and mechanical and digital chimes are not interchangeable.
Recording and storage
Events stay on the doorbell
The E340 has 8 GB built into the doorbell for event clips, with no required subscription for local recording. A supported HomeBase can provide another storage route. It is not a continuous-recording camera. Update the hub and doorbell firmware before adding it to a HomeBase.
Charge the battery fully first. Use the supplied USB-C cable before it goes near a ladder, even if you plan to wire it in afterwards.
Choose battery or wiring. Run it wire-free on the battery, or connect existing doorbell wiring so the battery stays topped up while installed. Check your transformer against eufy's figures before relying on it.
Pair it in the eufy Security app. Scan the doorbell's QR code near the router on a 2.4 GHz network, then mount it and confirm the connection holds.
Mount for both cameras. Aim for a clear view of visitors at face height and let the downward camera pick up the doorstep. Adjust the angle wedge if the porch geometry needs it.
Sort the chime separately. Check your chime is mechanical or a supported eufy/Alexa option before assuming it will ring; see Works with, above.

Is a Good-grade unit worse at its job than a new one?
No. The grade describes the housing, not the electronics. A renewed unit runs the same published spec sheet. The difference is cosmetic marks and the plain packaging it ships in.
Do I need a HomeBase or a subscription to use it?
No to both. The E340 works on its own, on battery or existing doorbell wiring, and saves clips to its built-in 8 GB. HomeBase 2 or HomeBase 3 are optional add-ons and not included. There is no required monthly fee.
Will it ring my existing chime?
eufy lists mechanical house chimes; its support article excludes digital chimes. Check your chime type and wiring. Google Home as a chime remains inconsistent across official pages.
Can I run it on battery and wiring at the same time?
Yes. eufy's design keeps the battery installed even in wired mode, so existing doorbell wiring tops the battery up rather than replacing it.
