Two cameras at the front door
The Video Doorbell E340, model T8214, has two cameras. The front camera records visitors in 2K (2048 × 1536). A second camera looks down at the doorstep in 1080p (1600 × 1200), so the ground in front of the door is in view too. eufy's parcel feature is called Delivery Guard.
The doorbell detects people, faces and packages. eufy lists a 4-second pre-buffer, so a recording can start just before the motion that triggered it. eufy markets colour night vision with a range of up to 5 m. It is rated IP65 and for −20°C to 50°C.
- Front camera2K view of the person at the door, with two-way talk.
- Doorstep camera1080p view down to the mat, where parcels are left.
- eufy appAlerts, live view and clips stored on the doorbell's 8 GB.
Battery or existing doorbell wiring
Battery
Mount it and recharge the battery when it runs low. eufy quotes up to 6 months per charge for the E340. Its doorbell battery estimates come from a lab test at 20°C with about 10 motion events a day and clips of about 20 seconds; more activity, longer clips and hot or cold weather shorten that.
Hardwired
Connect it to existing doorbell wiring (8 to 24 V AC, at least 10 VA) to keep the battery charged. The battery stays installed. eufy also lists a 19 V, 0.6 A DC power adapter as a power option; an adapter is only included when the exact offer says so.
Electrician required for fixed wiring work. Battery setup is DIY. If installation adds or replaces a doorbell transformer, power point or any other fixed or mains wiring, a licensed electrician must do that work. Check your transformer's voltage and VA rating before relying on the wired option.
Choosing a chime
No chime comes in the box. A doorbell press can still be heard inside in these ways:
- Your existing mechanical chime, when the E340 is hardwired. Digital chimes are not supported.
- eufy MiniBase Chime (T8023) or Chime 2 (T8026), a plug-in chime for inside the home.
- HomeBase 2 (S280) or HomeBase 3 (S380), when the doorbell is paired with it.
- An Amazon Alexa Echo speaker, which can act as the chime when the doorbell is pressed. Google speakers cannot.
eufy states the E340 does not work with the original eufy Wi-Fi Chime (T8020) or eufy Chime (T8740/T8742).
Storage, HomeBase and monthly fees
Clips are stored on 8 GB of storage built into the doorbell, so local recording has no monthly fee. eufy estimates about 90 days of video at 30 clips a day of 20 seconds each. More or longer clips use it faster.
A HomeBase is optional. eufy's current tables list the E340 with HomeBase 2, HomeBase 3, HomeBase Mini and HomeBase Professional S1. Update the hub's firmware before pairing. Pairing support and the features available in that pairing are separate questions, so use the compatibility checker for your exact hub. The HomeBase 3 guide explains its storage.
Alexa, Google and Apple Home
With Amazon Alexa you can start live view by voice and hear doorbell-press announcements. With Google Assistant you can start live view by voice. The E340 does not support Apple HomeKit.
A sensible first setup
- Choose battery or wired first. For the wired route, check your transformer and chime before mounting. A new or replaced transformer is a job for a licensed electrician.
- Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. The E340 does not connect to 5 GHz. If it will not join, set your modem's 2.4 GHz channel to 1, 6 or 11, and split the bands if the modem shows one Wi-Fi name for both.
- Set it up before fixing the bracket. Add the doorbell in the app, hold it at the mounting spot and check live view from both cameras.
- Check both views. Confirm the front camera sees faces at the door and the doorstep camera sees the mat where parcels land.
- Pick the chime. Pair an indoor chime, a HomeBase or an Alexa speaker so presses are heard inside.
Check the exact offer for the mounting bracket and other accessories supplied. Brand new, open-box and manufacturer-renewed stock can differ in packaging and contents. Our condition guide explains those descriptions; the product offer confirms what is supplied. Cameras record events; they do not prevent them.
