The Backyard Director’s Cut
Small yard.
Big production.
Two lenses, a turning camera and a solar panel make the S340 a remarkably well-equipped crew for your everyday driveway drama.
eufy Security SoloCam S340
with 3W Solar Panel
The bins have asked for a bigger trailer.

A tiny crew.
A useful day job.
Watch the driveway, check the side gate and take a closer look in the app. The S340 brings two camera views and automatic tracking to the job. Nobody needs a dressing room. The charging panel does need decent sunlight.
Wide shot.
“Go closer.”
Same camera.
The wide-angle lens records in 3K. The separate telephoto lens supplies a 2K closer view, with up to 8× hybrid zoom. You can see the wider scene while examining the detail that made you open the app.
Continuity noteHybrid zoom combines optical and digital methods. It is not 8× optical zoom, and image detail still depends on distance, light and conditions. Shouting “enhance” at your phone remains optional.

Playful illustration of a changing view, not real footage or an example of the camera’s detection interface.
The subject moves.
The camera can too.
Motorised pan and tilt let you change the viewing direction, while automatic motion tracking can follow activity. Handy when the interesting bit declines to stand on its mark.
The director wanted a second take.Real events do not supply one. Give the camera a clear view and set up its position carefully. A fence remains a fence, even with an excellent casting agent.

The rechargeable battery powers the camera; the solar panel helps replenish it. Mount the panel on the camera or separately to give it a better patch of sun. The camera wants a useful view. The panel wants a clear sky. Different departments, same production.
The sun has declined a meeting invitation.
No “charge once, forget forever” promise.Shade, weather, season, panel angle and camera activity affect the balance. Allow for occasional manual charging. A cloudy week cannot be fixed in post-production.
Illustrated charging concept. The actual camera and supplied panel are pictured at the top.
Four lines that
survived the edit.
- It records events, not a continuous feature film.
- This battery camera does not offer continuous 24/7 recording. Adding HomeBase 3 does not change that. The footage comes as triggered event clips, not an uninterrupted timeline.
- It needs suitable Wi-Fi, not merely enthusiasm.
- Provide a reliable 2.4 GHz network at the camera’s position. A 5 GHz-only setup is unsuitable. Confirm reception outside before you put the ladder away.
- Solar charging still answers to the weather.
- The included 3W panel needs useful sunlight. Persistent shade or frequent recording can mean the battery needs manual charging. The lighting department cannot negotiate with a roof.
- It records. It does not prevent.
- The S340 records, detects and shows activity. It does not prevent incidents or guarantee detection. Walls, distance, lighting and settings still matter.
Approved for release. The “magical camera” draft was not.
Night falls.
Different lighting.
Colour night vision uses the built-in spotlight. Infrared night vision provides another option when you prefer a less conspicuous view. Pick the mode for your position and check the result in the app.
The spotlight is a camera feature, not a substitute for lighting the entire backyard. The decorative eyes in our little film set have demanded a close-up. Actual results depend on the scene.
Lighting note: a possum does not become a person just because it has main-character energy.
Fictional night illustration, not an S340 night-vision sample or a claim of animal recognition in standalone mode.
“Pop it beside the door, thanks.”
Direction delivered from the app.
No megaphone required.
Give direction.
From wherever
you’re checking in.
Two-way audio lets you talk with someone near the camera through the eufy app. Useful for a delivery instruction or a quick hello when you have a working connection.
Sound recordist’s noteWind, background noise and connection quality affect the conversation. The speaker can pass on a request; it cannot persuade a courier to appreciate your directing style.
Keep the clips.
Skip the compulsory
subscription.
The S340 has 8 GB of built-in eMMC storage for local recordings. Core local recording does not require a monthly subscription. There is no microSD card slot to fill, forget or drop under the desk.
Archive noteStorage is finite. Keep copies of clips you need. Optional HomeBase 3 can provide more storage options; optional cloud services may carry charges. “Local” does not mean every app feature operates without an internet connection.
The footage lives here. The sequel is your decision.
Decorative film reels. Actual storage is built-in eMMC.
Solo means
it can start solo.
A HomeBase is not required for standalone use. Connect the camera to suitable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and use its onboard storage through the eufy app.
HomeBase 3 is an optional addition for central storage and enhanced AI features. It is sold separately. The sequel can have a bigger crew without pretending the first film needs one.
Technical producer’s noteKeep the camera, app and optional HomeBase firmware up to date. Check current support before buying any other hub or smart-home accessory. “They’re both white” is not a compatibility standard.

The actual crew list.
This is one Brand New SoloCam S340 with the 3W solar panel, supplied in sealed retail packaging. Not a multiple-camera production. Not a HomeBase bundle. The camera gets the lead role; the small mounting parts do the heavy lifting.

A close-up of what you are buying. The script supervisor has removed “cinematic” from the storage row because it was not a unit of measurement.

Charge.
Pair.
Find the view.
Do the phone-and-Wi-Fi part while your feet are on the ground. The ladder has terrible customer service.

- Charge before the first take.Follow the guide to fully charge the camera before installation. Battery preparation is less glamorous than the hero shot and more useful than skipping it.
- Pair beside the router.Add the camera in the eufy app using your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Complete any offered updates before committing to the final mounting position.
- Scout the camera and panel positions.Check Wi-Fi reception, the camera’s view and the panel’s sunlight. Keep both reachable for maintenance; avoid aiming towards neighbouring private areas.
- Mount, aim and walk through.Use the supplied mounting parts as directed. Adjust the panel, camera position, detection settings and activity zones. Test daytime and night views before calling “that’s a wrap”.
A different camera
may suit you if…
- You need continuous 24/7 footage. This camera records motion events. A permanent all-day timeline needs another setup.
- You cannot supply 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. A strong 5 GHz-only network does not qualify for this role.
- Your panel will live in deep shade. Plan for manual charging or choose a power arrangement that matches the location.
- You want removable memory cards. Its onboard eMMC is not a microSD slot wearing a secret disguise.
- You need a HomeBase in this purchase. This is the single-camera-and-panel listing. The larger crew is a separate booking.
Before the opening scene.
Can I get started without buying a HomeBase?
Yes. The S340 can connect to reliable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and use its built-in 8 GB local storage. HomeBase 3 is optional and sold separately, adding central storage and enhanced AI features when connected. The camera does not require an extra hub simply to begin standalone use. That would be an unusually expensive audition.
Is the solar panel actually in this box?
Yes. The supplied configuration is one SoloCam S340 with a removable 3W solar panel in sealed retail packaging. The panel can be positioned on the camera or separately as described in the guide. Choose a position with useful direct sunlight and keep an eye on battery performance over changing weather. The sun supplies energy, not a service-level agreement.
Will I get an uninterrupted recording of the day?
No. This battery-powered model records triggered events rather than a continuous 24/7 video timeline. HomeBase 3 can extend your storage options but does not make the S340 a continuous recorder. If uninterrupted footage is essential, choose a camera designed for that task. This crew makes clips; it has not accepted a feature-length commission.
Does “8× zoom” mean an 8× optical lens?
No. The advertised maximum is 8× hybrid zoom. The camera combines a 3K wide-angle view and a separate 2K telephoto view with optical and digital zoom methods. That gives you options for checking detail, but light, distance and the scene affect the result. The editing desk has politely declined the phrase “infinite enhancement”.
Are local clips tied to a monthly plan?
Core local recording does not need a paid monthly subscription. The camera contains 8 GB of eMMC storage; it does not accept a microSD card. Optional cloud-based services and other paid features are separate choices. Keep copies of clips that matter because onboard capacity is finite. The archive is useful, not an endless director’s edition.
What does Brand New mean for this order?
This item is new and unused in a sealed retail box, supplied with the 3W solar panel configuration stated above. It is not described as renewed or open box. Warranty support is provided under our own 12-month warranty, alongside your Australian Consumer Law rights. The seal gets to make its first appearance when you open it.
When does the order leave Townsville?
We aim to send orders the same day where possible. Typical dispatch is same-day to 1 business day. Busy periods can extend that timing, although this is rare. Express shipping refers to the Australia Post delivery service, not a guaranteed dispatch or arrival date. The shipping costs and return terms are visible below.
Shipping, returns
and our warranty.
Shipping and dispatch
Orders over $99.00 include Australia Post Express delivery. For orders under $99.00, tracked delivery costs $9.95 and Express costs $12.95. We do our best to send orders on the day they are placed. Our usual dispatch window is same-day to 1 business day. Busy periods may extend that window, though this is rare.
Change-of-mind returns
We accept change-of-mind returns within 30 days of delivery, provided the item is complete and unused. You pay the return postage, and the original shipping charge is not refunded. For items that are faulty or not as described, contact us for help; CamGuard Australia covers return postage.
Our own 12-month warranty
Your purchase comes with our own 12-month in-house warranty from CamGuard Australia. This is not a manufacturer warranty. Our warranty is additional to rights and remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law and does not exclude or restrict those rights.
Who you are buying from
CamGuard Australia is an independent Australian reseller based in Townsville, Queensland. We sell genuine eufy products and provide our own after-sales support. We are not an official or authorised eufy or Anker supplier, distributor or representative.
Roll camera.
Less guesswork.
A closer look at the everyday comings and goings. Two lenses for the story, solar charging for the crew, and useful local storage for the clips.
The bin still wants final cut.
