The solar panel tops up the built-in rechargeable battery. eufy's guidance is at least two hours of direct sunlight daily under normal use.
Actual results depend on placement, season, weather, activity and settings. Frequent recordings or long live views can use more power than the panel replaces.
A shady corner is a lovely smoko spot. It is a poor solar office. Allow for manual charging when needed.

First-day induction

- Charge before the first shift.
Fully charge the camera following its guide. Solar is the top-up department, not an excuse to skip induction.
- Connect while you're nearby.
Add the camera in the eufy app using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. A kitchen-bench setup beats ladder-based troubleshooting.
- Find sun and signal.
Confirm Wi-Fi at the mounting point, give the panel direct sunlight and aim at your chosen area. The nicest view is not always the best camera angle.
- Walk through the view.
Adjust detection and night settings using real walk-throughs. Give the alert roster a sensible workload.

No. The camera is new and never used; the damage is to its retail packaging. Its box has done the travelling. The camera has not been put to work.
Can the sun cover every charging shift?
Not in every installation. eufy recommends at least two hours of direct sunlight daily for normal use. Shade, weather, settings and activity affect the balance, so manual charging may still be needed.
Does it need a HomeBase to get started?
No. It works standalone with 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and the eufy app. Your router gets the IT job; no HomeBase is compulsory.
Will it record the whole night without stopping?
It records motion events, not continuous 24/7 footage. Colour night vision uses the spotlight; infrared night vision is also available.
When will the parcel leave Townsville?
