The T8960 gives a compatible eufy HomeBase a physical control point near an entry. It is useful for family, visitors and the person carrying twelve grocery bags. It is not a standalone alarm, a camera, a Wi-Fi keypad or a secret portal to emergency services.

The keypad sends your selected system-mode command to the paired, compatible HomeBase. The resulting behaviour depends on the cameras, sensors, settings and firmware configured in that system.

Six suspects. Four to eight digits each.
Create up to six access codes per HomeBase. Codes are normally four to eight digits and can carry expiry dates, so the dog sitter need not inherit permanent membership of the household escape-room society.
Separate codes make household access easier to manage than one mystery PIN whispered across three generations.
Time-limited access is available for a code when the current app and compatible system support the configured expiry.
Codes and mode behaviour are created through the eufy Security app after the keypad is paired to its HomeBase.

The published figure is up to 200 metres in open area. Walls, floors, foil insulation, metal, interference and HomeBase placement reduce real range. Pair it first, then test the exact doorway rather than measuring an imaginary empty paddock.
Reality clue: open area is not the same as through brick, steel, upstairs bedrooms and the cupboard where the router went to retire.
Dark room · the sensor's only job
It wakes the button lights. It does not guard the room.
The sensor on the front is documented for activating the keypad backlight in the dark. It is not a motion detector for security, not an alarm zone and not a substitute for a separate compatible sensor.

No. T8960 is a control accessory for a compatible eufy HomeBase and has no useful standalone alarm function. It does not pair directly to a phone as an independent security system. Confirm the exact HomeBase and firmware route before ordering, then pair through that HomeBase in the current eufy Security app.
Which HomeBase and firmware routes are listed?
The current listing names HomeBase 2 from firmware 2.1.8.8h, HomeBase 3 or S380 from 3.1.0.3, and HomeBase Professional S1 from 4.1.4.3. Use the latest available firmware rather than treating those minimums as a reason not to update, and confirm exact regional compatibility if uncertain.
Does the panic button call emergency services?
No. Holding the panic control for two seconds triggers the configured HomeBase alarm and account notifications. It does not call police, ambulance, fire services or a monitoring centre. Delivery and response depend on your configured devices, network, power, app settings and whether a recipient notices and acts on the notification.
Is the front sensor a motion detector?
Not as a security feature. Its documented job is to activate the keypad button backlight in darkness. It is not a HomeBase alarm zone, does not replace a compatible motion sensor and should not be purchased to detect movement. Think night-time key lighting, not an invisible guard posted beside the door.
Can I install it outside in the rain?
No exposed outdoor installation should be assumed. eufy publishes no outdoor weather rating for this keypad and directs it away from strong sunlight and wet environments. Use it indoors or in a genuinely sheltered position. If wind-driven rain, direct sun or condensation can reach the location, choose a different placement.
Will the battery always last 180 days?
No fixed duration can be promised. eufy rates the built-in 2,600mAh battery for up to 180 days per charge, while backlight activity, signal quality, use frequency, temperature and battery age affect the result. Recharge with the included Micro-USB cable; a USB power adapter is not included in this box.
