Is a Good-grade unit worse at its job than a new one?
No. The grade describes the housing, not the electronics. A renewed unit runs the same published spec sheet; the cosmetics and packaging are what differ.
Do I need a HomeBase or a subscription?
No to both. It records to a microSD card, with no monthly fee for local recording. HomeBase 3, Mini or Professional S1 are optional; HomeBase 2 won’t run it.
Will HomeKit show 4K?
No. Apple HomeKit shows 1080p video. Use the eufy app for full 4K.
What happens in a power cut?
It stops. eufy says its wired indoor cameras shut down in a power outage, can’t detect or record, and start again when power returns.

2.4 GHz
The camera requires 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. A 5 GHz-only network will not connect it. No HomeBase is required for a direct Wi-Fi setup with suitable microSD recording.
HomeBase 3 is a supported optional route. HomeBase Mini is listed for T8417 in eufy's current compatibility guide; confirm the functions and firmware you need. Other hubs are not automatically cleared just because they have a similar name.
