Solar is support, not a guarantee. Available sunlight, activity, settings and temperature affect charging. Occasional cable charging may still be needed.
Continuous recording needs power. 24/7 recording requires direct power through a separate cable. Battery-and-solar operation alone does not provide continuous recording.
Good means light marks. Small cosmetic marks you may notice up close. They do not affect how it works.
Total darkness changes the picture. eufy recommends infrared for clarity in complete darkness. Colour results depend on the available light.

E40 needs a compatible HomeBase, a working home network and the eufy app. HomeBase 2, S380 and Professional S1 have official pairing evidence, with feature differences; check the detailed compatibility note for Mini. Charge the camera first and give its built-in solar panel useful sunlight. Solar does not guarantee that manual charging disappears.
Recording and storage
Recordings belong to the paired hub
E40 sends recordings to its HomeBase. With S380, local capacity starts at 16 GB and can expand through a separately purchased compatible drive. The camera overwrites older recordings when storage fills. Continuous recording requires direct power and the supported settings; its solar panel is not a substitute for that power connection.

Test the chosen position. Complete setup and check the view, connection and recording before final mounting.

Is a Good-grade unit worse at its job than a new one?
No. The grade describes the housing, not the electronics. A renewed unit runs the same published spec sheet. The difference is cosmetic marks and the plain packaging it ships in.
Does it work without a HomeBase?
No. A compatible HomeBase is required and sold separately. HomeBase 2, S380 and Professional S1 are supported routes; check the features available on your base.
Can it record all day?
Yes, with direct power and the separate power cable. eufy specifies 24/7 recording with a 4-second pre-roll in that configuration.
Will solar remove every charging stop?
Not necessarily. Sunlight, activity, settings and temperature affect the charging balance.
Does MaxColor work in complete darkness?
