What you need
S330 / eufyCam 3 is an add-on camera and cannot operate directly on your router alone. Have a compatible HomeBase, its power supply, your home network and the eufy app ready. HomeBase 3 is the main setup described here; HomeBase Mini and HomeBase Professional S1 work too, HomeBase 2 does not. The supplied-items list covers this condition.
Recording and storage
The camera sends event recordings to its paired HomeBase. HomeBase 3 has 16 GB built in and accepts a compatible internal 2.5-inch SATA drive up to 16 TB, bought separately. This battery camera does not provide continuous video recording. Optional cloud features are separate from the local archive.
Power and connection
With HomeBase 3 still powered, eufy says this camera can keep operating during an internet outage. It warns that restarting the router or hub can lose recordings made during that outage. Mains failure stops the hub unless separately backed up; a charged camera does not power it. App access also needs the network.

Integrated panel · aim it at actual sunlight
The solar panel is built into the camera. eufy’s operating target is roughly two hours of direct sunlight per day to support ongoing event-based use. A north-facing position with a clear sky view usually gives the panel a better chance than “under the jacaranda because the screw hole was already there”.
Solar performance varies with shade, season, activity, recording length and settings. Charge the camera before setup; sunlight is support, not magic.
PIR motion detection wakes the camera. Through a compatible HomeBase, the system can classify people, vehicles and pets; with HomeBase 3 it can also use BionicMind recognition features. eufy's US introduction says radar plus PIR, but the eufyCam 3 column in that same page's comparison table says PIR. The AU page does not confirm radar. Radar is therefore not promised for this camera. Activity zones help keep the camera interested in your property rather than every pedestrian living a normal life.
No detection system is perfect. Placement, sensitivity, approach angle and distance matter.
The f/1.4 lens, Starlight colour night vision, infrared and a built-in spotlight preserve useful detail after dark. A 100dB siren and two-way audio are available for deterrence.
The siren is loud; use it thoughtfully. The possum has not read the body-corporate rules and will probably lodge a counterclaim in the ceiling.
The S330 cannot connect directly to ordinary household Wi-Fi or work standalone. It must pair to a supported HomeBase 3, HomeBase Mini or, per eufy's compatibility list, a HomeBase Professional S1, sold separately.

The camera carries an IP67 weather-resistance rating for outdoor use when correctly installed. Secure the mount, protect the charging-port seal and avoid positions where water pools or the panel lives in permanent shade.
IP67 does not mean floodproof, pressure-wash-proof or “mount directly under the roof valley and see how she goes”.
Two-way audio lets you speak through the S330 from the eufy Security app. Alexa and Google voice-assistant support can help with compatible viewing and control setups. The built-in siren is available when the situation needs more than a polite sentence.
Audio delay, network conditions and device compatibility vary. “Oi mate, that parcel belongs here” remains more useful than “you have entered my domain”.
Responsible hero clause: aim cameras at your own property, minimise capture of neighbours and public areas, use audio and facial recognition lawfully, and tell household members and visitors where required.
Activity zones and sensitivity controls help focus detection on the area that matters. Put the driveway, gate or side access inside the frame and trim away busy roads, moving trees and the neighbour’s entire front yard.
Zones are a filter, not a force field. Test by walking through the actual approach route and tune after you see real events.
HomeBase 3 organises local events for review in the eufy Security app. Human, vehicle and pet categories can make it faster to find the right clip; BionicMind recognition features depend on setup, clear views and system learning.
