What reports for duty
The joke is the night shift. The useful part is a weather-rated camera that can work indoors or out, pan through a room or carport, and keep the moving subject centred while it remains in view.
Knows the category.
On-camera AI can detect humans, vehicles, pets, sound and crying. Facial recognition and cross-camera tracking are separate, hub-enabled features that require a compatible HomeBase.
Listen. Speak. Sound.
Built-in microphone and speaker provide two-way audio. The siren can be opened manually or configured to trigger automatically. Those tools report and respond; they do not promise an outcome.
Over!Two antennas.
Dual adjustable external antennas support the camera's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection. Bluetooth helps during pairing, then switches off.
No charging ladder.
It is continuously mains-powered through USB-C. There is no battery and no solar input; suitable mains power is required whenever it operates. In return, there is no battery to bring down and recharge.
After-dark protocol
Night comes in three modes.

“Add-On Camera” is the product name—not a command to buy a hub. The C31 can connect directly to your router and record to its own microSD card.
Your router
Connect directly to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Add a Class 10 microSD card from 32GB to 256GB for local recording. No HomeBase is required.
HomeBase Mini
Model T8025 is an optional compatible hub. Its own microSD storage can be expanded up to 1TB, subject to current firmware and feature support.
HomeBase 3
HomeBase 3 / S380 model T8030 is optional and compatible. It uses its installed storage drive and can enable supported hub-dependent recognition features.
Professional S1
HomeBase Professional S1 model T9000 is listed by CamGuard as an optional compatible path; current firmware and feature support apply.
HomeBase 2
HomeBase 2 / S280 is unsupported. If this is the hub already in your house and you need the new camera to join it, this is the wrong add-on.
Apple HomeKit
Apple HomeKit is not supported. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are supported voice-assistant paths.
Recording needs somewhere to go. The camera has no built-in storage. Fit a compatible microSD card while the camera is powered off, or use a compatible HomeBase storage path. The card and every HomeBase are sold separately.

1080P, not 4KResolution is 1920 × 1080. Useful for ordinary rooms, carports and close approaches; not the model to choose for long-range plate detail.
2.4GHz onlyIt will not join a 5GHz-only Wi-Fi network. Keep the camera, router and any HomeBase at least one metre apart during setup.
AU power adapter includedCamGuard Australia ships this camera with a fully compatible USB-A RCM-Tick power adapter for the supplied two-metre USB-C power cable.
No storage includedNo microSD card and no HomeBase are in the box. Standalone recording needs a Class 10 card from 32GB to 256GB, inserted only while powered off.
Weather, not underwaterIP66 covers dust and powerful water jets, including when installed upside down. It does not cover submersion, flooding or storm surge.
Camera, not doorbelleufy also sells a Video Doorbell C31. This is the wired pan-tilt camera: no visitor button, no chime and no doorbell wiring.

Does “Add-On” mean I need a HomeBase?
No. Connect the C31 directly to a 2.4GHz router and add a microSD card for standalone recording. A compatible HomeBase is optional.
Can it really hang upside down outdoors?
Yes. eufy's guide states that IP66 dust and water resistance applies when installed upside down. Use an appropriate mounting location and do not treat IP66 as submersion protection.
Does it continuously record?
It supports continuous recording while powered and supplied with a supported storage path: either an installed microSD card or compatible HomeBase storage.
Which HomeBases work?
Optional compatible paths are HomeBase Mini T8025, HomeBase 3/S380 T8030 and HomeBase Professional S1 T9000, subject to firmware and feature support. HomeBase 2/S280 is unsupported.
What do I need that is not in the box?
The power adapter is covered: CamGuard Australia supplies a fully compatible USB-A RCM-Tick adapter. For recording, add either a supported microSD card or compatible HomeBase storage; both storage paths are sold separately.
Is there a monthly charge?
No mandatory subscription is required for local storage or on-camera detection. Optional third-party or cloud services, if chosen later, remain separate.
Is it the C31 doorbell?
No. This is the Wired Cam C31 pan-tilt security camera. The separate Video Doorbell C31 has a visitor button and different hardware.
Who provides the warranty?
CamGuard Australia provides and honours the 12-month warranty. It is not a manufacturer warranty and sits alongside your Australian Consumer Law rights.

Change-of-mind returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery in original condition and packaging; the buyer pays return postage and original shipping is not refunded. Your ACL rights remain additional.
