eufy Smart Lock E31

The fingerprint deadbolt that retires your key ring for good. Touch, click, gone — the daily run-out-the-door in under a third of a second. Renewed by the manufacturer, warranted by us.

🖐 Fingerprint · 🔢 Keypad · 📱 App · 🔑 Key · 🗣 Voice — five ways through your own front door

First stop: what "Renewed" actually means

This lock had a previous life. It went back through eufy/Anker's official manufacturer renewal program, where it was inspected, tested and restored to full working order before being graded for resale. The renewal and testing are the manufacturer's — we don't pull every unit apart on a bench and won't pretend to.

This unit is graded Excellent — the top renewed grade. Expect a lock in near-new cosmetic condition: at most a light handling mark you'd have to go looking for. It ships in renewed (non-retail) packaging, not a sealed shop box.

What we add on our end: every unit's , and it's covered by our in-house 12-month CamGuard warranty — a CamGuard warranty, not a manufacturer warranty — on top of your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Your finger is the only ticket you'll ever need

Register a fingerprint once and the morning routine changes for good: hand on the pad, deadbolt retracts in under 0.3 seconds, you're gone. No fishing for keys with an armful of shopping, no spare-under-the-mat gamble, no "did I lock it?" from the driveway. The lock holds up to 50 fingerprints and 100 passcodes, so every housemate, kid and dog-walker gets their own way in.

Set it to auto-lock and it re-bolts itself behind you a moment after the door closes — one less thing on the daily checklist.

Left your phone inside? Left your everything inside?

Belt and braces, five deep. Tap a passcode on the numeric keypad (blue light = unlocked, orange = locked, so you always know where you stand). Grant a one-off code to the plumber from the couch and pull it later. Lock, unlock and check the door remotely from the eufy Security app — the lock has its own built-in 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, so app and remote access work straight out of the box with no separate bridge. And there's always the physical key as the old-fashioned backstop (two are in the box).

Runs for a year, warns you long before it doesn't

A single built-in 10,000mAh rechargeable pack runs the lock for up to 14 months at around ten unlocks a day, then tops up over USB-C — no drawer full of AA batteries to keep buying. At 20% it starts nudging you in the app, and a power-save mode buys roughly another month if you ignore it (we've all been there).

And if it ever runs flat at the worst possible moment, there's a USB-C port on the underside of the outdoor unit: touch a phone power bank to it for enough juice to fingerprint or key your way in. You are not sleeping in the car.

The honest bit

Every lock has fine print. Here's this one's, up front.

It was used before.

This is a Manufacturer Renewed unit, graded Excellent — near-new cosmetically, in renewed (non-retail) packaging, but it has had a previous life and the testing behind that is eufy/Anker's, not ours. If you need a factory-sealed lock, this isn't the listing for you.

It's a deadbolt replacement, so door fit matters.

The E31 replaces a standard deadbolt — not a mortice lock or a lever handle set. It fits an adjustable 60mm or 70mm backset, a 38mm or 54mm cross bore, and a door 35–55mm thick. Most Aussie timber and metal doors within that thickness are fine, and a drill template is included for non-standard prep, but measure your door first. If you don't currently have a deadbolt, or you've got a mortice/lever lock, this won't drop straight in.

The Wi-Fi channel trap is real.

The radio is 2.4GHz only and connects on channels 1–11. If your router is sitting on channel 12 or 13, the lock won't connect until you switch it to a channel in the 1–11 range — a 30-second change in your router settings, and our first question if you ever get stuck on setup.

Smart-home (and voice) needs a Matter hub with Thread.

The built-in Wi-Fi runs the eufy Security app on its own. But to add the lock to Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa or SmartThings — or to control it by voice — you'll need a Matter controller that includes a Thread border router (a HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K, Echo 4th-gen, Nest Hub 2nd-gen or SmartThings hub). Plain Wi-Fi alone won't join those ecosystems.

No Apple HomeKey, and the key can't be rekeyed.

You can control the lock through Apple Home via Matter, but tap-to-unlock HomeKey (the Apple Wallet card trick) is not supported on the E31. The physical keys can be copied at a locksmith, but the cylinder cannot be rekeyed to match an existing key.

Rechargeable pack, and a weather-resistant (not submersible) exterior.

Power is a built-in 10,000mAh pack you recharge over USB-C, not swappable AA cells. The outdoor unit is weather-resistant and rated for exterior temps down to −30°C and up to 70°C, but eufy doesn't publish a confirmed IP figure for it, so we won't print one — treat it as suited to a normal covered or semi-exposed entry, not a spot that gets hosed down.

Will it work with your door & setup?

The honest yes/no before you buy — locks are less forgiving than cameras, so read this row by row.

YES

A door with a standard deadbolt, 35–55mm thick, with a 60/70mm backset and 38/54mm cross bore. That covers most common timber and metal entry doors.

YES

The eufy Security app on its own — fingerprint, keypad, key and app/remote all work over the lock's built-in 2.4GHz Wi-Fi with no hub or bridge to buy.

YES

Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa & SmartThings — via Matter (see the note below on what that needs).

NOTE

Matter needs a Thread hub. To join those ecosystems (or use voice) you'll need a Matter controller with a Thread border router — e.g. HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K, Echo 4th-gen, Nest Hub 2nd-gen or a SmartThings hub.

NOTE

Set your router to Wi-Fi channel 1–11. The lock connects on a 2.4GHz radio using channels 1–11; channel 12/13 won't connect until you switch.

NO

Mortice locks & lever handle sets — the E31 replaces a deadbolt only; it won't fit a mortice or lever-set door.

NO

Apple HomeKey (tap-to-unlock via Apple Wallet) — not supported on this model.

NO

5GHz-only Wi-Fi — it needs a 2.4GHz network (nearly all home routers provide one).

Probably not for you if…

  • Your door has a mortice lock or lever handle set, not a deadbolt
  • Your door is thinner than 35mm or thicker than 55mm
  • You specifically want Apple HomeKey tap-to-unlock
  • You want a factory-sealed unit (see our New listings instead)
  • You can't change your router off Wi-Fi channel 12/13

Perfect for…

  • Anyone sick of juggling keys with their hands full
  • Share houses that need a code or print per person
  • Handing tradies a one-off code instead of a spare key
  • A standard deadbolt door you'd love to make keyless
  • Value hunters who'd rather bank the saving than pay for shrink-wrap

On the platform in four stops

Roughly a screwdriver, twenty minutes and a phone. No electrician, no locksmith.

1Measure & swap

Remove your old deadbolt; fit the E31 using the adjustable backset and included template.

2Get the app

Download eufy Security (iOS/Android), create a free account and add the lock.

3Join Wi-Fi

4Enrol prints & codes

Passenger enquiries

The questions we'd ask before buying a smart lock ourselves.

What exactly does "Manufacturer Renewed" mean?

The lock was previously used, then returned and put through eufy/Anker's official manufacturer renewal process — inspected, tested and restored to full working order before being graded and resold. That testing is the manufacturer's, not a per-unit bench check by us. This unit is graded Excellent, ships in renewed (non-retail) packaging, and is covered by our 12-month CamGuard warranty (a CamGuard warranty, not a manufacturer one).

What does the "Excellent" grade look like cosmetically?

It's the top renewed grade: near-new. At most you might find a light handling mark up close — nothing you'd notice with the lock installed on a door, and nothing that affects how it works.

Will it fit my front door?

It replaces a standard deadbolt on a door 35–55mm thick, with an adjustable 60/70mm backset and a 38/54mm cross bore, and a drill template is included for non-standard prep. It will not fit a mortice lock or a lever handle set. If you're unsure, measure your door thickness and message us before buying — we'd rather check than have it come back.

It won't connect to my Wi-Fi. What's wrong?

Nine times out of ten it's the channel. Its 2.4GHz radio only uses channels 1–11. If your router is on channel 12 or 13, switch it to something in 1–11 in your router settings and try again. It also won't use a 5GHz network — make sure you're joining the 2.4GHz band.

Do I need a HomeBase or a hub?

No HomeBase needed. Fingerprint, keypad, key and the eufy app all work over the lock's own built-in Wi-Fi. The only time you need extra hardware is to link it to Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa or SmartThings — that uses Matter and needs a Thread border router hub.

Does it work with Apple Home / HomeKey?

It works with Apple Home through Matter (with a Thread hub, as above). Apple HomeKey — the tap-your-phone-or-watch-to-unlock feature — is not supported on the E31.

What happens if the battery dies while I'm out?

It warns you well ahead — a low-battery alert at 20%, and a power-save mode that stretches things about another month. If it ever does go flat, there's a USB-C port under the outdoor unit: hold a phone power bank to it for enough power to fingerprint or key your way in. And you've always got the two physical keys.

How does the price compare to buying new?

eufy sells the E31 new in Australia for $449.95 (price checked 23 July 2026). Renewed is how you get the same lock — manufacturer-tested and working — for meaningfully less.

How do I claim warranty if something goes wrong?

Contact us with your order details and the serial number. Faulty-item returns are always free.
