- It runs on AA batteries, not a rechargeable pack. Eight AA batteries, rated for about 8 months. If you would rather remove and recharge a pack instead of buying batteries, that is the E31, not this one.
- Matter depends on your ecosystem. What you need
Before you bring it home
Use eight AA batteries and check the published deadbolt dimensions before installing. The eufy app provides connected control without a HomeBase. Matter is optional: Google, Alexa and SmartThings need a compatible hub; supported iPhones can provide local Apple Home control, while remote Apple control still needs a home hub.
- Measure the door first. Door thickness 35–55 mm, 60 or 70 mm backset, 38 or 54 mm cross bore, 25 mm edge bore, and at least 25.4 mm of latch-hole depth in the frame. eufy's own installation diagram settles any doubtful measurement.
- Fit the deadbolt and exterior assembly. Standard Phillips screwdriver, the screws eufy includes. Check the latch recess shape before inserting the deadbolt, per the user guide.
- Wire and mount the interior assembly. Run the cables through the mounting plate slot, connect the tailpiece, then fasten the interior assembly screws.
- Fit the batteries and download the eufy Security app. Install the batteries with the correct polarity before closing the cover, then follow the in-app steps to add the lock to your account.
- Add Matter last, if you want it. After the eufy app setup, open Device, Settings, then Work with Matter to pair with your third-party ecosystem. Check its controller and hub requirements; the Matter note above explains the supported local Apple Home exception.

HomeBase Mini, HomeBase 3 and HomeBase 2 are not supported for T85F1. The lock provides fingerprint, keypad, key and eufy-app access.
What happens when the batteries run flat?
You replace the 8 AA batteries. The USB-C port on the underside is for emergency power to get you back in; it does not recharge the AA batteries.
Can I use it with Apple Home or Google Home?
