eufy FamiLock S3

The video smart lock that reads the veins in your palm. Wave your hand, the door opens — no crystal ball, no keys, no fumbling in the dark.

Five ways in · palm vein · 2K doorbell camera · renewed & graded Excellent ✋

Let's read the "Renewed" part first

This lock had a previous life. It went back through eufy/Anker's official manufacturer renewal process — inspected, tested and restored to full working order — then graded before it came to us. We don't hide that; we lead with it.

This unit is graded Excellent — the top renewed grade. Expect a lock in near-new cosmetic condition: light handling marks at most, the kind you'd have to hunt for. It arrives in renewed (non-retail) packaging, not a factory-sealed retail box.

And it's covered: our in-house 12-month CamGuard warranty (a CamGuard warranty, not a manufacturer warranty), on top of your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

The reading, in numbers

5 wayspalm, app, voice, PIN, key
~0.6spalm-vein recognition
2K HDRdoorbell camera, 150° view
Grade 1ANSI/BHMA (highest)
~5 mobattery per charge
IP65weather-resistant exterior

It reads your palm, not a password

The headline trick is palm-vein recognition. Hold your hand near the reader and it maps the unique vein pattern beneath your skin — roughly 99.9% accuracy, a read in about 0.6 seconds, and up to 50 palms enrolled. No touching, no code to remember, no key to lose down the side of the couch.

Your palm-vein data is stored locally on the lock itself — it isn't sent to the cloud. It's the closest thing to a secret handshake your front door will ever learn.

Palm recognised · ~0.6s
Up to 50 palms · stored locally on the lock, not the cloud

A lock that also watches the doorstep

Built into the S3 is a 2K HDR video doorbell camera with a 150° wide-angle view and night vision, so you can see who's at the door from the eufy Security app. Paired PIR and radar motion sensors watch out to around 6 metres and, together, cut down false alerts dramatically — fewer pings for passing cars, more for the person actually standing there.

When the door closes, smart auto-lock can re-lock it for you via the built-in door sensor — handy for anyone who has ever driven off wondering whether they locked up.

Five ways in, because life happens

Palm vein is the party trick, but the S3 keeps four backups: the eufy Security app, voice control, a numeric keypad PIN, and two old-fashioned physical keys for the day the tech has a bad day. There's no fingerprint reader on this model — palm vein is the biometric here.

Power is a 15,000mAh rechargeable battery pack good for up to five months per charge, topped up over USB-C. There's also a set of AAA backup batteries: if the main pack ever runs flat at the worst moment, the AAAs give you emergency keypad access while you recharge.

"A door that reads your palm like a fortune teller — then gets a second life instead of landfill. The future arrived, and it's a bit witchy."
— The vibe, in one sentence

The honest bit

No smoke, no mirrors. Here's what the palm can't hide about this one — read it before you buy:

It was used before.

This is a Manufacturer Renewed unit, not new stock. Excellent grade means near-new cosmetics — light handling marks at most — but it's had a previous life, and it ships in renewed (non-retail) packaging rather than a factory-sealed box. If you need factory-sealed, this isn't the listing for you.

Measure your door before you order.

It's built for standard pre-bored deadbolt doors: door thickness 35–55mm, backset 60mm or 70mm (the faceplate rotates 180° for the 70mm setting), and a main bore of 38mm or 54mm. Doors vary, so measure your existing door's bore and backset against those figures first. This is the most common fitment surprise with smart locks.

2.4GHz Wi-Fi only — and mind the channel.

Setup uses a 2.4GHz network (it won't join 5GHz-only Wi-Fi; most routers broadcast both). It connects on 2.4GHz channels 1–11, so if your router is fixed to channel 12 or 13, switch it to 1–11 for setup — that's the number-one "won't connect" fix.

Bring your own charger and a screwdriver.

The battery charges over USB-C from a 5V/2A adapter, which isn't stated as included — use one you already own. You'll also want a Phillips screwdriver for the install.

Matter works, but it's app-first.

The S3 supports Matter with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings — but eufy notes Matter support is limited, so the full feature set lives in the eufy Security app. Treat third-party platforms as a bonus, not the main event.

No fingerprint on this model.

The plain S3's biometric is palm vein. If you specifically want a fingerprint reader, this isn't the one.

The reading: will it suit your setup?

What's written in the palm, and what isn't. Check these before you commit.

YES

Standalone, no hub needed — built-in direct Wi-Fi means the lock works on its own with the free eufy Security app. No HomeBase, no bridge required.

YES

Matter smart homes — Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and SmartThings, with the full feature set through the eufy app.

YES

HomeBase 3 — compatible if you already run one, though the lock doesn't need it.

NO

5GHz-only Wi-Fi — it sets up on 2.4GHz (nearly all home routers provide one alongside 5GHz).

NO

Fingerprint unlock — not on the plain S3. Palm vein is the biometric.

NOTE

Door prep & sizing — measure your door's thickness (35–55mm), backset (60/70mm) and bore (38/54mm) before ordering. Fit isn't guaranteed on every door.

NOTE

2.4GHz channel 1–11 — it connects on channels 1–11; set your router accordingly if it's fixed to 12 or 13.

Probably not for you if…

  • You want a factory-sealed unit (see our New listings instead)
  • Your door's bore or backset doesn't match the sizes above
  • You specifically need a fingerprint reader
  • Your router only broadcasts 5GHz Wi-Fi

Perfect for…

  • Anyone tired of keys, codes and the fumble at the front door
  • Households wanting a doorbell camera and a smart lock in one unit
  • Up to 50 palms — family, flatmates and the occasional house-sitter
  • Value hunters happy to bank the saving on a tested renewed unit

Set up in four steps

1Measure first

Check your door's thickness, backset and bore against the specs above.

2Fit the lock

3Pair the app

Add it in eufy Security over your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi (channels 1–11).

4Enrol your palm

Register up to 50 palms, set PINs, and choose your unlock methods.

Ask the oracle

The questions we'd want answered before waving a hand at our front door.

What exactly does "Manufacturer Renewed" mean?

The unit was previously used, then returned and put through the manufacturer's official renewal process — inspected, tested and restored to full working order — before being graded and resold. This one is graded Excellent and is covered by our 12-month CamGuard warranty (a CamGuard warranty, not a manufacturer one). It ships in renewed, non-retail packaging.

What does the "Excellent" grade look like cosmetically?

It's the top renewed grade: near-new. At most you might find a light handling mark up close — nothing you'd notice with the lock on a door, and nothing that affects how it works.

How does palm-vein unlocking actually work?

The reader maps the vein pattern beneath the skin of your palm — around 99.9% accuracy and a read in about 0.6 seconds. You can enrol up to 50 palms, and that data is stored locally on the lock rather than in the cloud.

Will it fit my door?

It's built for standard pre-bored deadbolt doors: thickness 35–55mm, backset 60mm or 70mm, and a main bore of 38mm or 54mm. Measure your existing door against those figures before ordering — doors vary, and fit isn't guaranteed on every one. Not sure? Message us your measurements first.

It won't connect to my Wi-Fi — help?

Set up uses a 2.4GHz network, not 5GHz-only. It connects on 2.4GHz channels 1–11, so if your router is locked to channel 12 or 13, switch it into the 1–11 range for setup. That resolves most connection issues.

What happens if the battery goes flat?

The main 15,000mAh pack lasts up to about five months and recharges over USB-C (bring your own 5V/2A adapter). If it ever runs flat, the 4× AAA backup batteries give you emergency keypad access while you recharge — and you've always got the two physical keys.

Does it need a HomeBase or a subscription?

No hub required — the lock has built-in direct Wi-Fi and works on its own with the free eufy Security app. It's compatible with HomeBase 3 if you already run one, but that's optional.

Does it work with Apple Home / Google / Alexa?

Yes, via Matter — Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and SmartThings are all supported. eufy notes Matter support is limited, so the complete feature set lives in the eufy Security app.

How do I claim warranty if something goes wrong?

Contact us with your order details and the serial number. Faulty-item returns are always free.
