Radar and PIR together
Radar and passive infrared work together to assess movement. eufy advertises up to 99 percent fewer false alerts; this is a manufacturer performance claim, not a guarantee for your property. Placement, conditions and settings matter.
Built-in solar, SolarPlus 2.0
The solar panel is part of the housing. In full direct sun eufy's own figure is roughly 450 to 900 mAh collected a day, and an external panel can be added if a spot needs more.

IP67 rated, with an operating range of -20 degrees C to 50 degrees C. Built to mount outside and stay there.
The honest details
Before you buy.
- Night colour has limits. MaxColor Vision uses the lens and sensor to hold colour in low light. In full darkness eufy recommends switching to infrared or the adaptive spotlight instead.
- It cannot work on its own. There is no standalone mode and no memory card slot. Without a paired compatible HomeBase the camera will not record.
- Apple Home caps the picture. Watching through Apple Home limits the video to 1080p even though the camera itself records in 4K.
- It alerts. It does not prevent. A camera records, detects and notifies. It is one part of home security, not the whole of it.
- Wired recording needs the right setup. eufy’s Australian S3 Pro page confirms 24/7 recording with a power adapter and Wired Mode selected in the app. Its US FAQ still calls the mode in development; confirm availability on your camera, HomeBase and firmware before relying on it. Battery and solar operation use event recording; periodic Smart Snapshots are not continuous video.

S3 Pro needs a compatible HomeBase and the eufy app; it cannot record as a router-only camera. HomeBase 3 is the principal documented setup. Charge the camera before pairing, update both devices and choose useful sunlight for the built-in panel. Optional external solar and direct-power accessories must suit the exact installation.
Recording and storage
Keep events in your HomeBase archive
S3 Pro has no onboard recording storage. HomeBase 3 provides 16 GB and accepts a separately purchased compatible internal drive up to 16 TB. Older clips are overwritten when full. Continuous wired recording availability differs across official pages, so confirm your firmware and power setup. Smart Snapshot captures periodic stills; it is not continuous video.
- Pick the HomeBase first. Use a HomeBase 3, HomeBase Mini or HomeBase Professional S1 on current firmware. HomeBase 2 does not work with the S3 Pro.
- Charge it before mounting. Top it up over USB-C so it is not relying on solar from the first day.
- Add it through the HomeBase. Pair the camera to your confirmed compatible HomeBase in the eufy Security app, not directly to Wi-Fi.
- Mount for sun and view together. Aim for a spot with useful direct sunlight and a clear 135 degree view, then check the signal back to the HomeBase before drilling.

MaxColor Vision combines the large sensor, bright lens and processing to preserve more colour when low-light conditions allow.
Spotlight mode adds visible light, while infrared offers another night option. Ambient light, placement and settings affect results. The side passage does not become a television studio because somebody taped a permit to it.
The camera records events, it does not prevent them. Spotlight and siren are active deterrence tools, not guarantees about what another person will do.

Broad view, fixed mount
The S3 Pro covers a 135° overall fixed field of view. It does not pan and tilt, so use live view to frame the drive, gate or side path before tightening the mount.
Reduce unnecessary road, sky and moving foliage where practical. The public footpath does not need to be inducted into every clip, and the palm tree has already exceeded its allotted hours.
Dimensions are about 69 × 82.4 × 143.5 mm; eufy lists 534 g as shipping weight. Use suitable fixings for the mounting surface.

- A compatible HomeBase is required and sold separately: HomeBase 3 (S380), HomeBase Mini or HomeBase Professional S1 (eufy's S1 device list marks T8162 supported; features vary). eufy added the S3 Pro to the HomeBase Mini's list in its August 2026 compatibility guide, so update the Mini's firmware before pairing. Not compatible with HomeBase 2: eufy's S3 Pro FAQ says so directly.
