Straight up: this one has lived in a house before
This is a Manufacturer Renewed unit, graded Excellent. It was owned by somebody before you. It went back to the manufacturer's renewal programme, where it was refurbished and tested, and it came out working as it should.
Excellent means near-new to look at. There may be light handling marks if you go hunting in good light, but nothing you'd notice from across the room. It arrives in renewed packaging, not the retail box.

Have a look around, not just straight ahead
Motorised pan and tilt: 360° horizontal, 96° vertical. You can drive it from the app, and it will turn to follow motion on its own. eufy's spec comparison lists auto-tracking on this model as human only, so treat pet-chasing as a bonus, not a promise.
Answer back
Two-way audio. Talk through the camera from your phone. Useful for telling the dog to get off the couch, and mildly terrifying for anyone who isn't expecting it.
Keep looking after the lights go off
Infrared night vision to 32.8 ft (about 10 m). There's no spotlight on the E220, so night footage is infrared black and white rather than colour.
Keep the footage in the house
Local microSD recording, no monthly subscription. eufy also lists optional cloud and NAS via RTSP. A card is not included — bring your own.
Know the difference between a person and the washing machine
AI detection: motion, human, pet, audio and crying. So the alerts you get are more likely to be worth opening.
Only watch the bit you care about
Activity zones. In the eufy Security app: Camera Settings → Motion Detection → Activity Zone → tap +. Draw a rectangle or a hexagon and only motion inside it triggers a recording or a notification.
Look away when you're home
Privacy Mode. eufy describes it as physically rotating the lens to face away and pausing all recording and live streaming, toggled from the app. There's a brief mechanical noise while it turns — eufy says that's normal. See "the honest bit" below for the full picture.
Play nicely with the rest of the house
Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Worth knowing: HomeKit streams this camera at 1080p, and activity zones, pet commands and sound detection aren't available through HomeKit — they live in the eufy Security app.

It was somebody else's camera first
Manufacturer Renewed, Grade Excellent. Refurbished and tested by the manufacturer's renewal programme — not by us. Near-new to look at, possible light handling marks, and it arrives in renewed packaging rather than a retail box.

Where an indoor camera should and shouldn't go
Living rooms, hallways, the entry, wherever the dog gets up to things — all sensible. Bathrooms and bedrooms that other people use are not. If you have a house sitter, a flatmate, a cleaner or guests staying, tell them the camera is there and where it points. It's the decent thing to do, and audio recording in particular is regulated differently state to state. We sell cameras, we're not lawyers — if you're unsure about recording other people, check your state's rules.

Privacy Mode is software, not a shutter you can flick
eufy describes Privacy Mode as rotating the lens to face away and stopping all recording and live streaming, switched on from the eufy Security app. There is no sliding lens cover on the body, and eufy's own spec comparison for this model leaves the privacy-mode box unticked even though its support material describes the feature — so we're telling you both. If you want the camera definitively seeing and hearing nothing, unplug it. That one always works.

Indoors only, and it needs a power point
Not weatherproof. Don't put it on the patio, in the carport, or anywhere it can get wet. It runs on a 5V/2A USB adapter with a 6.7 ft cable, so it needs mains power — no battery, which also means it's off during a blackout.

2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only
The E220 needs a 2.4 GHz band. If your router is running a single 5 GHz-only network, or your mesh hides the 2.4 GHz band, sort that out before setup day rather than during it.

No memory card in the box
Local recording is the whole appeal, and the card that makes it work isn't included. Add your own microSD before you leave, otherwise you'll be relying on live viewing only.

Night footage is black and white
There's no spotlight on this model, so after dark you get infrared to about 10 metres, in monochrome. If you want colour at night, this isn't the camera.

It makes a noise when it moves
It's a motorised head. It whirrs when it pans, tilts or swings into Privacy Mode. eufy's own guidance says a brief mechanical sound while the lens moves is normal — so a quiet nursery at 2am may not be the ideal home for it.

HomeKit gives you less than the eufy app
Through Apple HomeKit the stream is 1080p rather than the camera's native 2K, and activity zones, pet commands and sound detection aren't available there. Use the eufy Security app for the full feature set.

It's not a baby monitor
It has software-based crying detection that alerts on loud noise, and plenty of people use one in a nursery for a general look-in. It does not have the purpose-built parts of a real baby monitor — no parent unit, no infant-mode interface.

What does "Manufacturer Renewed — Excellent" actually mean?+
It means the camera was owned and used by somebody before you. It then went through the manufacturer's renewal programme, where it was refurbished and tested, and it came out working to spec. That testing is the manufacturer's, not ours — we're not going to claim credit for a process we didn't run.
Excellent is our top renewed grade: near-new to look at. There may be light handling marks if you inspect it closely in good light, but nothing obvious in normal use. It arrives in renewed packaging rather than the retail box.
How worn will it look? Be honest.+
On an Excellent-grade unit: minimal. Sitting on a shelf across the room, you would not pick it as second-hand. Up close and under a good light you may find faint handling marks on the housing — the sort of thing that happens to any object that's been picked up a few times.
What you won't get on this grade is deep scratches or obvious scuffing. If you'd rather pay less and accept visible cosmetic wear, look for our Grade Good listing of the same camera — same model, same warranty, more marks.
Do I need a HomeBase or a hub?+
No. eufy is explicit that no HomeBase or separate hub is required for the E220 — it connects directly to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and sets up in the eufy Security app.
Is there a monthly fee?+
Not for local recording. eufy states that recording to a microSD card requires no monthly subscription. Optional cloud features are exactly that — optional, and priced by eufy under their own cloud plans. The card isn't included, so budget for one.
Can I stop it watching when I'm home?+
eufy describes a Privacy Mode you toggle in the eufy Security app: the camera rotates the lens to face away from the room and stops all recording and live streaming. A brief mechanical noise while the lens turns is normal, according to eufy's own guidance.
Worth knowing honestly: there's no sliding shutter on the body, and eufy's own spec comparison table for this model doesn't tick a privacy-mode box even though its support material describes the feature. If you want certainty rather than a software promise, unplug it. It's a mains-powered camera, so that's a two-second job.
Will it follow my dog around the room?+
Maybe, but don't buy it for that. eufy's spec comparison for the E220 lists AI tracking as human only, while its FAQ mentions the camera following a person or a pet. Where eufy's own material disagrees we quote you the conservative version. Pet detection is a separate thing and is listed for this model — that's about alerts, not about the head turning.
Can I put it outside under the eaves?+
No. eufy is blunt about this one: indoor use only, not weatherproof, not designed for any environment exposed to rain or moisture. North Queensland humidity and a wet season will finish it, and that isn't a warranty claim.
Is it a baby monitor?+
Not a purpose-built one. It has software-based crying detection that alerts when it hears loud noise, and plenty of people put one in a nursery for a general look-in. There's no parent unit and no infant-mode interface. It also whirrs when it moves, which is worth thinking about in a room where something is trying to sleep.
