LIVE DUAL LENS · WIDE + ZOOM GRADE: EXCELLENT

Two cameras.
One siren.Never misses the play.

The eufy SoloCam S340 (Gen 2) is not a security camera so much as a two-camera outside broadcast bolted to your fence. A 3K wide lens holds the whole ground. A 2K telephoto with 8× hybrid zoom goes in tight on the bloke at your gate. It pans, it tilts, and once it has locked onto something it follows the play until the play leaves the field.

GRADE EXCELLENT

Straight up: this one has been on the ground before.

This is a Manufacturer Renewed unit. It was owned, it was returned, and it went back through the manufacturer's own renewal programme — that is where the refurbishment and testing happened, not here. Graded Excellent, it presents close to new: you might find light handling marks if you go looking in good light, and that is about the size of it. It arrives in plain renewed (non-retail) packaging, not the printed retail carton. If you would rather pay less and wear visible scuffs, we run the same camera in Grade: Good as a separate listing.

HALF-TIME STATS

The numbers, up on the big screen

Every figure below is off eufy's own published specification for the SoloCam S340. Where eufy does not publish a number, we have not invented one — see the umpire review further down.

SoloCam S340 — Match Statistics SOURCE: MANUFACTURER SPEC
Wide-angle lens 3K

2880 × 1620 across a 135° field of view. That is the whole ground in one shot.

Telephoto lens 2K

2304 × 1296 on the second lens, with hybrid 8× zoom for the tight shot.

Pan & tilt 360°

eufy's spec sheet reads 355° horizontal, 70° vertical. eufy rounds the pan to 360° in its own marketing.

Aperture f/1.6

eufy's stated figure. A wider aperture means more light reaching the sensor after dark.

Siren 90dB

Plus a motion-activated 100-lumen spotlight. Both trigger from the app or from detection.

On-board storage 8GB

Built-in eMMC. No monthly fee for local recording, and no cloud subscription needed.

Solar panel 2.2W

Adjustable and removable, and attached to every unit we sell. eufy says two hours of direct sun a day keeps it running.

Battery, no sun 3 mths

eufy's standalone battery figure with the panel taken out of the equation entirely.

Wide lens: eufy says details are visible up to 8 m (26 ft). Telephoto lens: eufy says you can see faces and read number plates clearly at 15 m (50 ft).
THE MULTIVIEWER

Four angles, one camera

A director cuts between cameras. The S340 does it with two lenses and a motor, which is why a single unit covers ground that normally takes three fixed cameras and a lot of ladder work.

CAM 1WIDE
3K · 2880 × 1620 · 135°

The wide shot

The establishing shot every broadcast opens on. 3K across 135° means the driveway, the side gate and the bins are all in one frame instead of three. eufy puts usable detail at eight metres out on this lens.

CAM 2ZOOM
2K · HYBRID 8× · TELEPHOTO

The tight shot

The second lens is the one in the coach's box with the binoculars. 2K with hybrid 8× zoom, and eufy's own claim is faces and number plates readable at fifteen metres. Wide tells you something happened. Zoom tells you who.

This is the spider-cam. eufy's wording: once a target is detected and identified, the camera keeps it in sight for however long it stays in the area. On-device AI separates motion, people and vehicles, so the wind in the poinciana does not get its own highlights package.

Colour night vision rather than the grey infrared wash, backed by a motion-activated 100-lumen spotlight and a 90dB siren you can also fire manually from the app. Two-way audio carries about nine metres (30 ft) by eufy's figure, so you can talk to whoever is out there.

RULES OF THE GAME

Umpire review: the honest bit

Every listing we write has one of these. It is where we send the decision upstairs on the things a glossy product page tends to skip.

REVIEWING · SIX DECISIONS ALL EVIDENCE SHOWN
01

This unit was used before you got it

Manufacturer Renewed means exactly that. It went out, it came back, and the manufacturer's renewal programme is what put it right. Graded Excellent, it should read as near-new — but light handling marks are possible and we would rather say so now than have you find one on the veranda. Packaging is plain renewed packaging, not the retail carton.

02

We do not publish an IP rating for it

You will find IP65 and IP67 quoted for this camera all over the internet, by different sellers, for the same model. eufy's own specification sheet does not print an IP number — it says weather protection: yes, and gives an operating range of −20°C to 50°C. So that is what we print. We are not going to pick whichever number sounds better.

03

8GB on board, and there is no card slot

Storage is 8GB of built-in eMMC. There is no microSD slot on the S340, so you cannot simply drop in a 128GB card. If you want a deeper archive, that is the job of a HomeBase 3 — optional, sold separately, not in this box.

04

2.4GHz Wi-Fi only

No 5GHz. If your router runs a single merged network name across both bands, you may need to split it or temporarily disable 5GHz to get through setup. Annoying, common to most battery cameras, and worth knowing before you are up a ladder.

05

Solar needs actual sun on it

eufy's figure is two hours of direct sunlight a day to keep it topped up indefinitely. Under a deep eave, in permanent shade or behind a mango tree, it will not get there and you will be charging it by hand. Point the panel north and give it sky.

06

Pet detection is not on the camera

On its own, the S340's local AI covers motion, human and vehicle detection. eufy's pet detection comes from adding a HomeBase 3 with its BionicMind processing. Standalone, you get the first three.

Genuine eufy stock, imported by us

CamGuard Australia is an independent importer. We bring the stock in ourselves, which is how a renewed S340 lands here at a sane price instead of a retail one.

Graded before it is listed, not after you complain

Excellent and Good are separate listings at separate prices. You pick the grade, you see what you are paying for, and nobody has to argue about it after delivery.

Out the door in one business day

Packed and lodged from Townsville, North Queensland, within one business day of your order. Australia Post Express is included on every order over $99.00.

A 12-month warranty that is ours

Not a manufacturer warranty — a CamGuard Australia warranty, in-house, for twelve months, on top of your Australian Consumer Law rights. If it is faulty or not as described inside that window, we cover the return postage.

DECISION PENDING · SENT UPSTAIRS

Score review: will it work with what you own?

Goal, behind, or no goal. Three verdicts, no ambiguity.

GOAL

Yes — straight through the big sticks

  • Works completely on its own. No hub, no bridge, no companion device required.
  • eufy Security app on iOS and Android.
  • 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi.
  • Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
  • Optional HomeBase 3 (S380) if you already have one — it adds central storage and eufy's BionicMind processing.
  • Mixing it into an existing eufy setup alongside other eufy cameras.
BEHIND

Note — touched the post, read this

  • 2.4 GHz only. Merged 2.4/5 GHz network names can block setup until you split them.
  • Pet detection needs a HomeBase 3; the camera alone does motion, human and vehicle.
  • A HomeBase 3 is an optional extra — it is not included here and is not required.
  • Solar output depends entirely on where you mount it. Deep shade means hand-charging.
NO GOAL

No — ball did not cross the line

  • No microSD card slot. Storage is the built-in 8 GB, full stop.
  • No 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
  • It is not a HomeBase 2 or HomeBase Mini camera — those older hubs are not the pairing path for this model.
  • No HomeBase, power adapter or extension cable is included in this listing.
THE TWO BENCHES

Who should be on the park, and who should stay on the pine

AWAY BENCH — PROBABLY NOT FOR YOU IFSIT THIS ONE OUT
  • 1You want a factory-sealed retail box with all the printed inserts. This is renewed stock in plain packaging — that is the whole reason it costs what it does.
  • 2You need weeks of continuous recorded archive on the camera itself. 8 GB with no card slot is not that.
  • 3Your Wi-Fi is 5 GHz only, or your router will not let you separate the bands.
  • 4The only mounting spot you have is in permanent shade and you do not want to hand-charge a camera.
  • 5You want a manufacturer warranty specifically. Ours is an in-house CamGuard warranty — good, but not eufy's.
  • 6You are running a HomeBase 2 or HomeBase Mini and expected this camera to join it.
HOME BENCH — PERFECT FOR YOU IFNAMED IN THE SIDE
  • 1You have one awkward area — a long driveway, a corner block, a wide rural gate — that a fixed camera keeps half-missing.
  • 2You want the wide shot and the identifying close-up from one device instead of buying two cameras.
  • 3You have no power outlet where the camera needs to go and plenty of Queensland sun where it does.
  • 4You are done with monthly subscriptions and want recording on the device.
  • 5You want near-new condition without paying near-new money, and plain packaging does not bother you.
  • 6You already run eufy gear and want another camera in the same app.
THE FOUR QUARTERS

From carton to live feed

No electrician, no cabling, no drilling through a wall for a power lead. Four quarters and a siren.

FIRST QUARTER

Charge it up

Bring the battery up before you mount anything. Renewed units arrive part-charged at best, and it is far easier to do this on the kitchen bench than on a ladder.

SECOND QUARTER

Pair it in the app

Install the eufy Security app, add the device, and join it to your 2.4 GHz network. If your router merges both bands under one name, split them first — it will save you twenty minutes.

THIRD QUARTER

Mount it and aim the panel

Pick a spot with a clear view of the ground you care about, then angle the solar panel at open sky. eufy's target is two hours of direct sun a day. North-facing, clear of eaves and branches.

FOURTH QUARTER

Set the angles

Choose your detection zones, set the activity zones and the tracking behaviour, decide whether the spotlight and siren trigger automatically, and check the night view once it is properly dark.

Siren sounds — you are live. Walk the yard once and watch the feed on your phone. That is the fastest way to find the one angle you want to nudge before you forget about it for a year.

TALKBACK

Lines are open

The questions that actually come in, answered the way we would answer them on the phone.

SWITCHBOARD · CALLERS WAITING SIX ON THE LINE
Caller 1Kirwan
“Manufacturer Renewed — what does that actually mean? Has it been used?”
Yes, it has. A renewed unit was previously owned and has been through the manufacturer's own renewal programme, which is where the refurbishment and testing happened. We grade what arrives and list it accordingly. This one is graded Excellent: it should present close to new, with light handling marks possible. It comes in plain renewed (non-retail) packaging, and it is covered by our own 12-month CamGuard Australia warranty — not a manufacturer warranty. If you want the cheaper grade with visible cosmetic wear, we list the same camera as Grade: Good separately.
Caller 2Annandale
“Do I need a HomeBase for it?”
No. eufy's own wording is that this camera can work alone — no hubs, bridges or companion devices required. It records to its built-in 8 GB and connects straight to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. A HomeBase 3 is optional and adds central storage plus eufy's BionicMind processing (which is where pet detection comes from). No HomeBase is included in this listing.
Caller 3Idalia
“Is the solar panel included, or is that extra?”
Included, and already attached. The 2.2 W panel is part of the unit on these — not an accessory we sell you afterwards. eufy states that two hours of direct sunlight a day is enough to keep it running continuously, so the real question is not whether you get a panel but whether your mounting spot gets sun.
Caller 4Bushland Beach
“Can I put a memory card in it?”
No — there is no microSD slot on the S340. Storage is the built-in 8 GB eMMC, with no monthly fee attached to it. If you want a bigger archive, that is what an optional HomeBase 3 is for.
Caller 5Rasmussen
“What is the IP rating? I keep seeing different numbers.”
So do we, which is exactly why we do not print one. eufy's own specification for the S340 lists weather protection: yes and an operating range of −20°C to 50°C, and does not publish an IP figure. Third-party sellers quote both IP65 and IP67 for the same model. We would rather give you eufy's actual words than pick the more flattering number.
Caller 6Mount Louisa
“Does it really follow people, or is that marketing?”
It pans and tilts to follow. eufy's own wording is that once a target is detected and identified, the camera will keep it in sight for however long it remains within the area. The on-device AI distinguishes motion, humans and vehicles, which is what stops it chasing every gust of wind across the yard.
